Summer Season Finals hop into action.
Three premiers were decided on Monday Night the 31st of march with the Easter bunny there to watch the action and plenty of chocolates.

The Summer Finals have been run and won with all teams centrally located at Wesley for the Easter themed Family Finals.

The Premier league was hotly contested with only percentage separating the top 3 teams. The Panthers quickly made their way through to the GF at the expense of Ashy who were hell bent on redemption when they defeated an experienced Dragons Line up in the prelim. Dragons looked to be breathing fire again when they accounted for Scraggers 1 in the elimination but were no match the Assassins. The Grand Final was a tight Tussle up to halftime with not much separating both teams. The Panthers, dressed in their standard motley white colours, burst out of the blocks in the second half to win comfortably over the Assassins.

The 1st division looked like a race between 2, St.Mic Sharks and East Malvern Knights who were the standouts for the season. The Sharks got over the line against the Knights in the Qualifier, which meant they had to go through the Big V, who beat Solway 2 in the Elimination. The Knights never looked troubled against the big V, but 2 games in a row and the GF on top meant the Knight were showing a little fatigue. The Generals young bloke had a smile on his face as he saw the old man’s body starting to seize in the 2nd half. The Sharks Fresh from the break took advantage of a waning Knights and ran out comfortable winners.

Wesley Comp was dominated all year by Rid Baud’s Thunder, the Question was could they complete the perfect season. Amazingly the Jets finished in 2nd place to take on the Thunder, alas a 100 points beating is a big margin in 20 minutes of 9s Footy. Jets again proved they were very lucky to finish 2nd when the Scorchers smashed them in the Prelim after accounting for a tough Rovers out fit in the elimination. The Thunder needed one more win for the perfect season and they did not disappoint. They were too strong for the Scorchers who did their best despite fatigue and a roaring Thunder.

Those who observed the Thunder this season firmly believed they could have given the premier league Flag a nudge……… next season we might find out.

Thanks to all who turned out to the Family finals day. We had great support from players families again with around 700 people attending Wesley to make it a great night.

1000 Easter eggs were never enough as the Easter Bunny found out.  Mugged by 100s of kids, the big fella did his best to keep them in constant supply before the inevitable happened…….no more eggs. Some of the reported frisking techniques were interesting, but the Easter Bunny came away unscathed and returned a little wiser from the event.
